Are EA62 engines rare ? and would any later model engines have the same gearbox bolt pattern? Many thanks for reading

There wouldn't be many left - hard to find parts for as well.
Bolt pattern to gearbox is different to later models, you could make an adapter plate to suit ... ;)

Thank you I purchased a kombi with a seized EA62 engine and was wondering if it was worth any thing ? and also if another newer model engine could be bolted up to the adapter plate

it really depends on the adapter plate and if it can be redrilled to suit a later model engine.
