Bush in steering column?
Does anybody know of there being some kind of bush in the steering column? Car is a leone RX. Problem is that the steering wheel seems to shake around slightly as though the steering shaft isnt holding in the steering column properly - ie, chewed out bush...
Question is, can anyone confirm this, and have any hints of how to get to it? Or is it a replace entire assembly kind of ordeal... It is livable, just a little shaky - especially when trying to park
Cheers

Take the steering wheel off and there is a bearing at the top of the column, the nylon spacer wears out. you can make a brass one up to replace it or buy a new one or if you are careful you can spot weld it into position. It will need to be a neat weld or you wont be able to get your indicator assembly off.

hey,
Almost forgot about this thread. I think (if i remember correctly) the part number that Xtreme RX supplied was superceeded by another (unless im confusing that with a gearbox bearing i ordered)...
I cant confirm the price because the boss hasnt charged me for it yet - so far its free - but i think i recall it being about the 25 mark which is probably trade price. But still $40+ is a bit rich for retail. i'd say $30-35 at most. Then again, retail prices can be pretty surprising 8O
Just found the package for the bush. 31145 GA122 is the correct bush - which superceeded the bush listed by Xtreme RX (i called up and confirmed). Bush fitted no worries at all. And another thing to note is that the bush was held in by a small circlip too (i only realised after a bit of prying )
To get to the bush, you have to remove the steering wheel (hardest part), unscrew the steering column surround (bit fiddly for top half), then slide the indicator assembly off the shaft, then you'll see the bush held in by the circlip. Undo that, and the bush should easily pop out with a screwdriver/pliers. All up i think it took me about 30 mins? Also, remember to keep your steering wheel STRAIGHT ahead before you pull it off, and put it back on straight ahead - mine was one spline out because i had to take a guess
Cheers!
