Great read, great pictures, and a great (and safe) trip.

Really glad that you and yours had such a good time, and it's always a feel good time when I read about people that you only know on forums getting to meet and help out each other in person 100's of k's away from home, makes the forum concept realy show its worth.

Awesome trip report & pics. I'd love to see some more of the ones from those pure white dunes where you did your gearbox. That looks like such a great spot to spend a day or 2!

So many awesome Subies in Perth!

Cheers guys! Would love to still be out there!

Gearbox will make a mention in the build thread at some point - just need time. As it was this trip report took 3 or 4 sittings just to type it out!

Can't wait to get back there, got a few things to sort out on Ruby Scoo - even before what ever the next trip is...

Cheers

Hehehe... Sorry mate!

If it helps, I find myself still living this trip from time to time. I need to head back out to the Nullarbor for more personal exploring. I don't know if I'll ever make it into some of those remote deserts further north... But I'd love to some day!

Cheers

That'd be awesome - it's just time and money for me (and convincing Mrs El Freddo).

Ultimately I'd love to be on the epic desert trip for many reasons - one is that it'd be awesome to be a part of the record breaking group. Stuart's something that cannot be repeated :(

The Nullarbor in winter would be very interesting, I've only ever experienced it in small doses during the hot weather periods. September would be interesting too!

Cheers

Would love to do most of this drive sometime.
Out of curiousity, some of those "off-road" (not the beaches) places look like they were pretty hard packed & wouldn't need 4wd.
How much of the trip do you reckon could be done with a 2wd?
Current rides:
JDM GTII Touring wagon
88 RX Turbo Full-time 4wd touring wagon project - 97 Toyota Caldina GTT (turbo 4wd WRX eater:twisted:) - Hyundai Excel Rally Car:confused::???:
Previous rides:
93 Legacy GT wagon - 85 RX Turbo Full time 4wd Touring Wagon - 85 GL AWD sedan
96 Toyota Caldina wagon

Two wheel drive will do the job on those Nullarbor places in the dry weather. Wet weather forget it, even with 4wd it'd be a bit of fun.

Awesome to check it out if you can ;)

Cheers

Nah mate I'm breaking different parts each time! It should be good now though. If anything low range will be next. But I'm hoping not.

That trip sounds like a good one. Again would love to be joining you but I haven't found my fortune that allows me to do so :/

Cheers
