Ea81/2 air filters aftermarket or mod

Post by Tweety » Thu Feb 05, 2015 9:34 pm

Been a lot of chat about ea81/2 air filter systems. Thought I'd explain Tweety's system. Feel free to expand on your system.

Tweety uses a cold air system starting from the 38/38 carbie weber top hat with a 75mm expandable snorkel to a large cone sports filter. Unfortunately these cone filters arent that good for filtering air but keep the large bits out at least.

Inside the cone filter I have one of those trumpet filters (that takes care of the minute dust). A electrical zipper around the middle of it allows it to stay in place by bulging both ends.

There is a angled Poly connector with tie wire to make sure the minor filter.
doesnt get sucked along the snorkel.

Finally, use K&N air filter spray on the outside of the cone and inside the trumpet filter. After Tweety's 1500 km trek NSW and VIC it was disassembled and truly, there was no dust or debris inside the snorkel at all.

Wouldn't you think a good vehicle engineer would have intake ducting made of white plastic so can see any dirt or dust? Once found shiz in the bottom of heaps of a quiet oil producer - had it identified by government scientists as silica - or in their words - sand !!

Had the oil containers ben black instead of clinical white ....

good job Tony, good report.

Now, would like some cranking speed cmpression figures please :)
