Motor journo Will Hagon was saying the other night the problem VW are having seems to be with the Diesel engine/DSG box in the majority - and it is the gearbox, or is it a transmission? that is the component being attended to in order to correct fault whereas it is the polution control side of the Diesel engines in the Subes copping the blame and attention.
VW DSG auto transmission used fluid that was corrosive to the internal TCM.

Returned today to advise after 2 years of research we have a permanent fix for this DPF issue to find we have been barred from this forum, seems the administrators don't want this fix displayed.
No reason has been given which tells us a lot about the administrators of this forum.

DPF monitoring

I now monitor my DPF regens through an OBD-II Bluetooth interface and Torque Pro on Android. At least it warns me during the DPF regen.

Thanks to Ghostgum (and Subdiesel/ Subaru diesel crew site) for the PIDs to get me going, I was stuck figuring it out!

Note the temps in this image are somewhat extreme and don't normally go that high (more around the 600-650C level).

Waa, what next ?! Wait 'til the marketers get onto this, no worries about vehicles reliability, performance or longevity. Right now the ads only seem to spruik no need to buy after market stuff coz it all comes with sat nav, bluetooth, auto park assist and now Torque Pro !

Excellent. It would be good to know what terrain the car is on while this is happening, so GPS would work great.

Sounds good. I just had word from my Subaru Rep that our 2010 Foz has had the "upgrade" to the ECU to help with the DPF fault. Once I have our Data Log I'll let you know what mine looks like.

Doubt you see this from the marketers.. Manufactures don't want people seeing this info but it's been available to them since EFI

Torque Pro et al

There's a few holes, but overall Torque Pro is a very nice piece of work. It even has a 'HUD' mode- reverses the readout (R to L) for display by reflection off the windscreen.

My interface is on the blink (or I've damaged the plug/socket :shock:), see error below, so buying a new (better) one- should hopefully have SSM access/capability too. Will let you know how it goes.

Some info for you, RSR555:
  1. There have been a few instances (lots for me recently) of code U0073 (Network Error) being thrown. This can be cleared with Torque Pro, has been suspected it may even be caused by Torque Pro on occasion. Mine may be my interface failing. I have logged many Mb and hours without any issue previously. The symptom is the Christmas tree lights up, complete with flasher. You'll know what I mean when it happens :twisted:
  2. U0073 whist driving produces unpredictable results. Sometimes the performance is impeded, the steering may drop to a default (min) assistance level, lots of electronic bits don't work (including after recycling ignition) incl cruise, have had a rpm limit ~3000 once, seems to lose knock sensing/balancing at idle, etc.
  3. For when you're finding stuff in Torque Pro, storage directories are all over the place. Some I've found are (on a Nexus 7 2013):
    • /storage/emulated/0/.torque (various- config save files and logs)
    • /storage/emulated/0/.torque/tripLogs (for the GPS logs I think- GPS not activated by me)
    • /storage/emulated/0/torqueLogs (data logs, can include GPS readouts if specified I think)
    • /storage/emulated/0/torqueTrackLog.csv (seems to be a GPS dedicated log file)
  4. A Nexus 7 2013 seems it could fit nicely where the stereo (if it can be called that) unit is in a 2010 :-)

Hi Paul,

Well then here's a couple of files to get you started. Unzip the attached .zip, the two files inside for Torque Pro DPF monitoring are the dash setup and custom PIDs. Drop them in the appropriate directories under /storage/emulated/0/.torque/dashboards and /storage/emulated/0/.torque/extendedpids .

To do this, you'll need a file manager type program (free downloads) such as Ghost Commander (can send your logs to PC via Bluetooth) and File Commander (can act as a very basic music player- queue audio files, see below).

And the Nexus 7 (2013 or version 2) plugs nicely into the AUX-IN port (centre console bottom rear, underneath centre armrest on the 2010) to act as a music box too. You just need a standard stereo headphone socket (2.5mm?) male-male link cable.
