From memory a fan clutch is stuffed when you can hear them roar all the time ??

Just what I had in my Brumby between the EA82 and L Series radiator, until this morning. Noisy all the time thing has gone, and in its place a Davies,Craig fan kit powered by Panasonic in its place.

It sounded like one of those evergalde boats off Gentle Ben. Think it was sapping power, and the reason the fuel gauge fell faster!

Not sure if it is the extra quiet I have recouped or it just has more power in the EA82 without the clutch fan. Another item wasting valuable storage space destined for the bin !

Careful in what you measure up. I found a 10" fan by SCA was 10" blade, then the 12" fan had an 11" blade !! Their fans are about 90mm deep and too fat for our Subes. The Davies,Craig fans come in full kit or partial kit which is fan blade, housing and panasonic motor and four feet for the housing , no more. The bigger kits have more stuff you need to research yourself.

At same time I added the Tridon TFS 132 85 on, 80 off switch which only controls the piddly fan on drivers side. Both my fans are manual switchable via a pair of factory AC buttons in dash.

All bodgied up prep for my GLTM melded into Brumby #3 which will be two relays, two DC fans i think, switched manually and by the TFS132.

Using 45mm ally angle to mount the DC fans to the bottom and bolt through top mounting to radiator with new holes and bolts

DAVIES CRAIG DCSL12 LOW POWER FAN 12V SHORT UNIVERSAL FAN KIT is what I got, max fit, so two should fit. The suppier has upped price from 92 to 139 for same thing plus same postage since I got mine last month ! Shoulda bought 2 !

Care to post a link to the kit you used? :) And is it switched manually, auto or on all the time? Thinking I should do the same thing in my Brum.

I was under the impression that roar was caused by the increased air movement when the thermo-clutch at its base was engaged as the fan is spinning at full speed.

Im a big fan (hehe) of engine driven fans because there are very few electric fans that can move the volume of air that engine driven fans do, but unfortunately they are always using some engine power and they are noisy

This particular viscous coupling makes same loud roar at all op temps all the time, whereas the one on my GLTA is whisper quiet. Modern thinking has been electric for nearly 20 years now. Noticing even 10 year old things like Maz3 with biggest as single fan, with what looks like would be restrictive to air flow big arsed cover so all air passing through rad must go through fans diameter and not just pass through willy nilly. Not happy with TFS132 as still switched on at 73 !But temps differ about the place, in manifold, in radiator, on block....The GLTA with twin fans and viscous gives no grief

the spacer bar to make up for difference Fuji gave us between MY and L Series mounting bolts at top. I let the hoses determine where the radiator would sit so not to stress any components to make them fit.

Man, does this baby purr now ! :)

Learning how to drive it to give some zip, secret is floor it in first, almost in second and she is doin' 80 kph in no time. Coupled with a quiet exhaust - the L Series Y pipe from before with the cat quietened the raspy bloody 2" sports exhaust with no cat before, no dog. Bliss. Now, a few more valves would not go astray ....
