Brumby EA82T turns itself off

Post by Steve » Sun Dec 29, 2013 6:10 pm

I recently purchased a Brumby with an EA82T fitted . Mostly it runs very well but twice now it has turned itself off while on the road. Each time I have been able to pull over without problems. It then restarts straight away and off I drive. What should I look at to try and solve this problem? Thanks, Steve.

G'day Steve,

Where to start on a purchased conversion? There could be so many issues, some that I can think of are:

- an immobiliser issue if there's one fitted
- an intermittent cut in power to the ECU
- an issue with the crank angle sensor - long shot, but the ECU may reset when you go to re-start the engine, thus ignoring the sensor issue or not having the issue since the reboot.

There could be a wiring issue or an earth issue that has become present in the system since the conversion.

One question - is the conversion running the stock ECU or an aftermarket ECU?

Cheers

Bennie

And before any more help - some photos ! Have a look at the dizzy - does it have a vac can on its side ? Helps ID things - the series of EA82T - also the manifold and hitwire AFM or bigger flapper syle AFM ?

Do the dash lights stay on (oil pressure, charge and ecs light) when it stalls or only after you turn the key back on?
Could be a dicky ignition relay

This was my first thoughts too.. I would like to know if you get any indications of things working or not working, i.e. tacho, fuel pump, etc
