..should there be?
OK, I can't really keep saying the same thing over and over - check with a multimeter between pin 21 of the ECU and the negative side of the coil. If there is no connection, then the engine cannot and will not run.

You wont need to plug that in, on the early TPS they read closed and open the latter read closed and how much open.

So are you getting any Spark?

put some fuel down the guts of it and turned it over and it ignitied a few turns and wants to go..... but seems like the injectors arnt putting fuel in to start.....

havent got a multimeter to check the pin 21 yet but im getting one this week.....

im getting a few ECU codes flashing at me
3plug ecu

it starts with

-2 long 3 short
-1 long 2 short
-3 long 3 short
-1 long 2 short
-3 long 3 short
-1 long 2 short

a test light is usually all you need......
check voltage at injectors...the injectors are open when the ecu drives the line to 0V.
The common wire should be at +volts, so with a test light to btw chassis and common should give full bright. actually both wires will given full bright because the injectors are low impedance ...4ohms or so.
However on the NON common wire, the wire driven from the ecu, you should see dips in the light brilliance as you start....
I got several multimeters....I still prefer the test light..lol...the only thing better is the portable handheld oscilloscope :P

so there should be full power (or light) at the injectors when the ignition is on...any when you turn the key to start they should dim to a low amount of power (or light)......

?? correct ??

as the engine is rotating you should see the light get dimmer...

BTW, should mention that I found best to use a 18v pilot light (~0.2Amp type)- so that at the 12 volts it isn't so bright to blind your eyes...and eyes more easily sense the change in brightness - well works for me anyway.

ok will check that out tomorrow sometime......thanks fred sub

that will determine wheather the injectors are putting fuel through
which im 95% sure they arnt :x

Getting spark means your dizzy coil connection is ok, But sounds like you are missing a signal from the coil to the ECU. Looking at your pic of the coil i cannot see it attached where it should.

Codes are

23 Idle switch in on or off position
12 Starter off
33Abnormal coolant sensor

12 is common if you leave the ignition on as it will read that unless the engine is cranking or running.

But i would look at where the ECU trigger wire has gone from your coil first.

I had a similar problem when i was trying to start my turbo motor.
I had spark, the injectors were working but i would only start with fuel poured down the throat.

I unplugged the maf and it started by itself, plugged the maf back in and it worked again, i dunno why but it worked.

Yeah the trigger wire will be on the RX loom. it should be on a smaller loom under the wiring for the Fusable link box

ok just looked around under the dash tonight and near the fusible link box and under the glovebox area i found a female connector with about 8 wires goin into it..... one is a tick grey sheilded wire... i will take photos but i am thinking this needs to be pluged in to go to the ecu>?

but where does it plug into? i cant see a male connector... :?

also did the test light on the injectors and they didnt dim...so the injectors arnt opening when starting....
