Non Brumby Subaru utes

Post by wagonist » Wed Jun 21, 2006 10:18 pm

After visiting Qld on the weekend & seeing the efforts being made up there to do some different stuff.

I've always wanted to built an L series ute, what I reckon Subaru should've done to replace (continue) the brumby.

But I'm thinking about some different ones.
I saw a pic of a Gen II Legacy ute in the UK.

Has anyone seen any others?
Current rides:

Previous rides:
93 Legacy GT wagon - 85 RX Turbo Full time 4wd Touring Wagon - 85 GL AWD sedan
96 Toyota Caldina wagon

I've often thought the early Foresters would make a good candidate given their lines and tail light resemblance to Brumby Gen II

oh yeah, if anyone happens to come across a wagon/hatch/whatever Subaru wants to call it, at a wreckers which is damaged at the upper rear & may be a candidate for a conversion like this, please let me know.

I think Gen I Lib wagon & L tourer are out due to the roofline, & I'm not the greatest fan of the Gen II wagon. The WRX wagon would be good, but the taillights would have to be massacred due to their intrusion into the tailgate space.
A Gen III Lib would be sweet though.

Anyone got a pic or link to the Forester ute in NT?

There's photos of a Forester Ute that some smash repair mob built using a forester that had been written off with flood damage. It looks really cool.

USMB member Phizinza made a photochop of a Forester ute, as well as one of a WRX ute.

Not bad.
Not sure about the stainless in the back.
The tailgate doesn't open either, though it'd be much easier to stiffen up the back end that way.
I think starting with the sedan was wrong too as it looks too short.

I still would have it though.

There is a Forester ute getting around up here in Darwin. Only seen it once - a series 1 model in dark green. The cab looked very short.

If I see at again and I have the digi camera with me, I'll take a photo.

Cheers,
Willie.

There is also a silver Forester ute that lives in Palmerston.

You just can't go past the Brumby's dimensions eh? The B piller is what makes it.
Monster Subaru sold to a good home!! Still a Subaru owner. Will try stay in the Ausubaru loop. Sorry

It sounds like I work for the same company as you :D

I'll send you a pm and let you know where I'm at.

MUDRAT, I haven't seen a silver one around Palmerston. I live out that way, so I'll keep my eye out for it.

Cheers,
Willie.

No, you've found Phizinza's photochop I mentioned above. On the same site he has his STi ute photochop.

I remember reading about the genuine article in the paper a few years back.... could've even been before I built my coupe - 2002?

Yeah, I think the genuine forester ute that was done is a dual cab.
