I doubt that they have gone to digital without encryption - thats the whole idea of digital. I'm no expert but I also doubt they send on one channel and receive on another.

What you are refering to Spike is called duplexing the radio transmits on one frequency and recieves on another.
The channel that ihe radio sends on is recieved by a central radio with an antennea that is exteemly high so that is has a greater range than the moblie unit does and then retransmits the signal on the other recieve channel , thus giving a much wider range than it would if just one unit to another.

turns your phone it to a world wide scanner

have been using 5-0 radio police scanner but their are a lot more to choose from and cover the windows apple and android software

when i was in new south early in the year
i got the cops as we hit peak hill heading north on 440 odd meg digital unencrypted
and still had them down on 70mhz as well
- 92 brumby, ej22, MT5AWD, lseries low range, centre diff lock, glf5 dash, 5 stud conversion
lifted 3" front 2" rear all rolling round on 27" khumo Kl71's
more in progress ie:adaptronic ecu and sc14 supercharger
