1988 EA82+box into 83 brumby

Post by smudge1 » Tue Oct 25, 2005 11:10 am

I am in the process of dropping in a ea82 + 5sp d/r box into my 83 brumby. I have just got the engine/ into the car after making a few mods to the engine bay but I am having a hell of a time with the mounts begining to think they will never fit and that I will need to make up some kind of mounting plates to attatch the block and box to the car can anyone confirm this or offer advice.

I can offer help regarding the gearbox fit.

Loads of members gave me the advice when i did my 5 speed conversion.

5 speed box use original Brumby gearbox crossmember and the gearbox mounts
easiest to measure up the xmember , mounts and box out of car.

one side mount the mount to box holes are to be elongated, the other side mount to box holes need to be eshortated. You'll see on inspection

the xmember has holes in it that the mounts bolts through, , each hole needs to be filed out about 4mm in the outer direction ie wider {not bigger diameter}
