L series Bendix brake parts
Could someone please let me know the correct Bendix part number for the front brake pads and the rear brake shoes in a 92 L series wagon.
Auto 1 have informed me the part number for the front pads is DB392 but I feel this is not right, the just dont look the same (without pulling the existing pads out).
I have standard discs on the front and standard drums on the rear. All original and nothing fancy.

i had exactly this problem with the auto one i go to. We did find a set that fitted, and the box has the number DB 418 GCT on the top. (I think GCT is just the 'level' of braking). just double check they are right before you break open the packet.
the bendix pads are great too, have no trouble pulling up an ej22ed L (as much as people bag L series brakes)

The front discs are all the same, there's no variation there!
My local parts joint accepts new pads if the packaging has been opened - so long as you haven't used the items they're all good. We also found that the Bendix catalogue part numbers had changed between the old edition and the new one. Very strange! We found that the Liberty pads are the same dimensions but with 1mm of less meat on the pad.

Just to confuse you the American number system is different - quoted just above. If you reckon the first set is not correct, the next number shown is the other possiblity - no others.
Many times we find listings of after market stuff is not spot on. If you went to the dealer to buy , they'd use there own number and get you the correct ones as recorded by VIN, so long as no one changed callipers etc in 20 years - which is possible sometimes.

Here is what I am going to do.
As I had an 88 L series back in the 90's and then the MY I build up a collection of old front pads.
On the weekend I will pull a wheel off the L series and maybe pull an inner and outer pad out and find one in the box of bits till I locate something which is the same. I will then take this to Auto 1 to put up against one of their pictures in the Bendix cataloge to ID just what is what.
Let you know how I go.

My Bendix book from 2003 lists DB418 for all L series of DL, GL, GL10, RX and XT front , Mar 85 to 94 (Gees, 9 years of L Series eh ? ) , pretty typical of Bendix to list the pads for rears as next sequential number as DB419 so makes sense we have correct number for fronts.
It also lists Leone 1800 83-85 fronts as DB 392 - now, I recall MY series as DB 326 and DB 426 so..... DB392 likely still L Series - a special , what the hell Sube was 1800 made from 83 to 85 other than Brumby ??
The options of grades were then general purpose category as ' Advance' , for heavy duty the option was Metal King PLus from Bendix
Shape wise the 392 has a flat bottom, rounded top to shadow the disc outer, whereas the 418 has the bottom rounded same as top so top shadows the disc outer and the bottom shadows the round hub getting in a bit more contact area praps ?

OK here is what I know from pulling the front pads out of the LH side of my 92 L series.
Written on them is-
DB418 T?(the ? is another number/letter I cant read)
FERODO
5053538.
I compared these to old front pads from my 88 L series and they are exactly the same meaning DB418 is the correct part number for my 92 L series front brake pads.(and the 88 L series too)
