If you're keeping it stock then just put the factory stuff in it. Early WRX run the same boost sensor and controller.

Personally I'm not a fan of Manual Boost Controllers but it depends on how deep your pockets are. MBC can boost spike badly but if you have a gauge and you're always watching it, then no probs... I know I've got better things to do while driving than to watch boost gauges

just bought some new all terrains and think i'll get some scrubbage on the rears without changing the trailing arm brackets i can get my hands on some forester ones..? do they achieve the same results as the outback or has it got to be outback?

seems like she's been in a few cars now.. still really smooth on boost and very quiet.. 92,000 wow that is low k's... few dreams in the pipe works for the engine once she slips up.. going to save my pennies up and put some forgies and wrx heads on her but hopefully ill get at least 18 months out of her before that..

also anyone ever connected a bbq to an un-used lpg tank in the boot? just a thought, probably very ill-legal and i doubt ill do it but out of interest.

Woody, I also did the timing belt, tensioner and platinum plugs before I put it into my car. (just to give you some history)
I think it had a tough life after I sold it. Country boys with not alot of know how bodged it into a FWD Leone.

i called them asking for two rear trailing arm brackets last week and they wanted 250 for the pair... think it was more of a "cant be bothered" price, especially considering they're 80 from subaru..

I've got an old stainless car tank that I've been using for years to fill my bbq bottles from, I was going to put it on the rack under the barbie but it's a bit big so I just throw it in the boot or the back of a ute and sneakily fill it then chuck it in the back yard, you can get the hoses from most caravan shops and if you need a filler neck you can borrow mine, there are heaps of people out there with a T piece fitted so they can run the bbq off their cars. so i've been driving her round a little bit now and have an issue with the battery/alternator i can get a few starts out of a charged battery and thats it.. i have a turbo timer installed which gives the charge and it varies from 12-13.. which seems slightly low or am i wrong?

Technically the gas is different, and the regulator you have one the BBQ is designed for propane, as is the burners, so it will not be as efficient. In reality though, I have never noticed it being a problem.
so i've started getting codes for 24 (idle switch) and 42 (idle circuit or something a rather) which comes on onl if i have to sit in traffic for an extended period of time ( every day for about an hour on the way to uni
thanks state government for the freeway upgrade) and drives like shit getting on and off the throttle but if i switch it off and on again it goes and is all good for another 30 mins... when i fitted the new engine the accelerator cable didn't seem to be able to be wound out enough and i think it holds the throttle open ever so slightly would this be the cause of it?

I'd be checking what else is still operational after you've turned off the ignition. My brother's AC (different car, but didn't have an issue until the AC was serviced) seems to stay on after the ignition is turned off. This also happened on Sunnie the Brumby, but I've put in a cut out relay so it won't happen again. The other issue could be that the alternator isn't the greatest to begin with. I've gone through one already in almost 3 years, I've been told that upgrading to the square plug alternator is the way to sort it out. I've not done this yet...
It could be. Gannon recently fixed his idling problem by fully closing the throttle - I think the cable was the same issue as yours.
