carby and exhaust questions

i have a 1.8L bog standard brumby and i was wondering, what would be the best carby and exhaust combo, as i would like a touch more low end speed and i really really would love to be able to stay at a constant speed up hills on the highway, and i love the brumby exhaust note, so i would love for it to come out noticable but not massively loud

any one have some suggestions on the best combinations to use?

Do a search for the weber conversion, relatively cheap (unless looking on fleabay!) and easy to do.

Exhaust, most I've heard go for a 2 inch exhaust, usually cat back because it's cheaper and you really can't get much more performance from the stock extractors anyway. Throw in a hotdog in the middle and what ever muffler choice out the back for the loudness you're after - the exhaust shop might have the setup you want if you talk to them first, this is how I did mine on the L series after the EJ went in. Stoked!

Standard EA81 engines have plenty of power for the weight of a Brumby. I'd be checking things like compression, timing, fuel, etc.. If these things aren't within spec then no point putting new carby or exhaust on.

Carby. Webber 32/36 easily the best Carb. Haven't fitted one to my Brum but had one on a 1800 datto ute and only paid $50 for the carb (wish that would happen now).
Can't coment on the exhaust caues I don't have any practical experience. except the Brum with the long hotdog and 41mm outlet goes harder than the one with the resonator and 38mm outlet.

Some things that can be done to the engine which are normal service type things
Valve clearances set to minum
ignition timing set to 8deg BTDC with electronic dizzy
98 octane fuel to suit the timing. (oh here we go the great 98 debate) Don't care what yas say 98 is the go and it works for me every time.

What about the Weber 38 carby?
Where is a good place to buy a weber? (apart from fleabay).

The weber 38/38 is not efficient as both barrels open at the same time.
Think it was designed for the 6cyl 4.1L motors and not realy suited for the smaller motors.
Good question Cam. Where does one buy a 32/36 at an affordable price

no the weber 38/38 is a racing carby specifically designed for Italian 4 cylinder motors, the 34 adm is the carby from the 4.1 l ford motor.

Do you want a working 32/36 carby or one that needs rebuilding?

as for the one I have...

it is a 32/36 that doesn't have a choke assembly on it, but has the butterflys, has been stored in several plastic bags since it was last used and is an original Italian weber. it was working when it came off the motor, but it would need a kit put through it ( might get away with not kitting it)

it owes me 100 dollars before postage, not sure what postage would be.

im not after anything yet as i need another car to use in the meantime, i would like to do the whole lot in one hit, the lift, new rubber, new seals, exhaust and carby

though would you find a 32/36 carby? for a decent price and reliable
