How to fit CD stereo to Brumby MY

From this :
what seems to be the original after market radio and tape deck ! the liquid crystal was getting a little tired (and the ALDI special warranty ran out two years ago on my unit in the cupboard

a piece of 19mm thick pine scrap sized to match the front panel dimensions of the Brumbys console. this is needed to space nearly all CD players into Brumby MY due to space restrictions at the rear (unless you cut into the ducting at the back or lucky to find small unit)

I roughed up the front panel of the console so my ever faithful silicone would hold this spacer in place until silicone set, then some strategically placed screws from behind.You will notice in later pics the screws did not break through to the front

Makin' sure the cradle fits in the slot (not Cameron Diaz'

) . NOTE: It did fit, then after about six coats of matte black spray, the slot needed further enlargement

yeah, thanks, I just felt some members sounded like they needed a hand held or some pictorial inspiration

nine images ?? the limit is eight apparently , I no count eight anyway!!
I set mine aside to the left to try to keep a line from panel above.

Matte black matches the CD player. A previous spacer plate I painted in freebie paint pot sample in " I am trying to match this grey please"

- only came in wall flat but has stood the test of time outlasting the BOSS cheapy stereo I fitted to my first Brum

Seen a brumby with the console painted with bumper paint bought from super cheap.
The colour was "mid grey" and it was a pretty good match fro the original colour

I had concerns that even if I did get a face plate there would not be sufficient support for the carrier ?

With all the friggin' around, the pine splitting and needing repair three times (shake the glue well first Jonno!) , discovering the thickly applied paint was still soft (and my finger prints still show through sanding and 2 more coats!) it is probably worth shelling out fifty bucks for those plastic bits.
Better still would be a bucket thing to cut into the rear ducting. All good.

Now qualify to run the green FUSION sticker on the window - I replaced the Clarion 4" jobbies with more 4"ers CP FR4020 $39 pair same screw holes in the lower plastic door kick panels (ye hah, finally, something easy!) and the slightly heavier wiring. Considering front speakers in the side of the console for next project

While I was in there cutting and joining wires, I added a $3.50 headlight reminder that again, had been sitting around waiting for some time (waiting for me to leave my lights on - like Tuesday

) I tapped into the no longer there hash tray light source for one wire, the CD player ign ON for the other wire. Now screams if lights are on when ignition is switched off. saved !

Probably the best $3.50 you'll ever spend Jonno.. I don't know how many times people say to me 'have you left your lights on?' I get so used to the newer ones where they turn off. Might have to invest in one for the Ugly Duckling.

I found these at a swap meet a few years back. Was a bit peeved (to the tune of about $10 worth !) to find one national chain had them for about $15 while another national chain about $5. SCA and auotpro joes worth a try, or ebay is your friend TOONGS, bulk purchase perhaps??

Well spent Paul, just motorvation to contort body to suit electrics chasing under dash was the delay. Previously fitted one to the dash pod right on the back of the printed circuit board. This time mounted so I can shush it up a tad with foam or even a switch.

looks and describes like one I bought in 1983 for about same money. That one stopped the screams after a sufficient 10 or 20 seconds, just kept flashing - a method I prefer instead of continuous screaming if left with parkers on

That aeropro kit wont fit brumbys, it suits the brat, and l series but not brumby.

Im just going too hook this up to my amplifier. Small, and i retain the ashtray which is what i want.

pretty neat! I have also found that the old radio produced its own "you need a new suppressor" noises - new one does not make those whirring noises

Hey thats pretty cool, and you could mount it almost anywhere.

As for the headlight reminder, when I get the RX going, I think I will just add a relay to the headlight supply, so that they turn off when the ignition is off

This aeropro does fit the Brumby (I know I have one in a Brumby) and a Brumby is the Aussie term for a MV1800 Subaru ute. Brat is the American term for the MV1800 Subaru ute... Brat = Brumby
