Bratgeebah's brake kit update
I put a big post up last night and then changed my email address in the profile section, got locked out somehow and now the thread is gone, even all my posts in the other threads…….so happy b’day Tim.
So I'll start again.........but I'll paraphrase
Manufacture almost finished I’m just waiting for prices on the backing plate adaptors and a few other assorted small parts that are being machined . No firm price yet but around $1000-$1200.
L Series kits will include
-2 new rear hubs with new studs.
-2 backing plate adaptors with new bolts washers etc
-2 new rear brake lines
-2 brake line support brackets with new clips
-Change over front suspension arms with new Superpro bushes
-Drilling template (on cd) spacers and bolts for handbrake lever adaptation.
-cd with fitting instructions, photos, product materials, and related info.
MY kits will include
-As above
-Parts to adapt MY Strut tops to Impressa struts (Lib. Spring is a bit big for MY strut tower)
-Parts required to plug extra brake line ports in Liberty master cylinder
-Steering rack ‘restrictors’
All parts are made from high quality materials and professionally machined/laser cut etc. A full report on materials and specifications will be on the cd.
I’m not sure when they’ll be ready, about 2 weeks give or take, maybe more
If you want any info on what other parts you need etc I will have a web site happening soon or you can email me
[email protected]
Once the web site is online I will be able to supply ball joints, tie rods and tie rod ends, and an assortment of suspension bushes as an option in the kits or individually.
I can’t remember the link to all the pictures I have but I’ll post it soon..
There will be 10 MY and 10 L Series kits.
Please let me know if you are genuinely interested so we can get the ball rolling.
Gee

interested as well but your explanation was a bit brief for those of us new to the EJ conversion game.
i understand that all of this will become a lot more obvious with the CD.
As such i would prefer to see what you have on offer on your web site, pictures etc.
I will be buying a kit and have the money, just a bit hesitant as i dont know how much extra will be involved on my behalf.

Mate i am desparate for this kit, my cash is burning the proverbial hole and my spare control arms are getting dusty.
I have everything else sitting waiting, the brumby is crying out for this as its disks are very very warped.
Let me know cause the brumby is very close to braking something
Cheers Chridk

Thanks to everyone expressing interest. It’s very reassuring, especially at this stage of the game when this project is really starting to effect my hip pocket. As I said before most of the parts in the kit are almost finished or will be machined in the next couple of weeks. My wife and I are now concentrating on the fitting instructions and ordering process etc. To make it easy for everyone we will do this through our new web site which is under construction. To answer your questions:
a) “Will there be a second batch”….I hope so, depends on interest
b) “How do I pay”…. Initially bank cheque, money order or direct deposit, perhaps Pay Pal, are many of you wanting to credit card this?
c) “What do I need to supply”….
a. Gen 1 Liberty hand brake cables & handbrake cable clamp/stay bracket. (Bracket/stay is located on the floor just behind handbrake lever in liberty).
b. Gen 1 Liberty rear backing plates, can be from 2 or 4WD.
c. Tie rods/ends (Both models use standard tie rods with MY tie rod ends.).
d. Gen 1 Impressa or Liberty front steering knuckle.(I think all the later model knuckles are the same-can anyone clarify?)
e. Impressa or Liberty front strut (MY must use Impressa top spring seat and spring)
f. Liberty ball joints
g. Gen 1 vented or solid rear discs and callipers and Twin Piston, front callipers & disks. Rears can be from 2 or 4WD.(I'm pretty sure disks and calipers from later models are all the same)
h. L-Series use a TN Magna Handbrake lever – available in various colours.
i. MY use an Early Honda civic hand brake lever (can’t remember year, will get back to you on that.)
j. L Series use Liberty front drive shafts. MY use 22 spline MY shafts with Liberty outer CV. Will provide part numbers and/or (hopefully) new CV’s (extra to price of kits) and photos for easy identification of MY drive shaft. (MY 22 spline shafts are very common and easy to come by)
All these parts are common and cheap at most Subaru wreckers.
For those of you who want to make an immediate purchase as soon as they are available could you let me know if you are looking at MY or L Series as there are some differences and I’ll make sure I’m prepared.
In the meantime please feel free to continue asking questions. I realise that with the loss of the old thread a lot of answers have been lost and I am more than happy to answer them again.

Yeah, but you need the bigger disc as well, I haven't done it myself but its common to put them on rs Liberty's and it's the same knuckle. The two pot rears don't seem to work though.
Something I forgot to add in the last post is you need 1" Liberty master cylinder. It is a straight bolt in swap for the 13/16 master cylinder in both the MY and L.
The one inch Liberty master cylinders have two variations;
One has 3 'outlets' for the brake lines. This swaps directly with the L series.
The other has 4 brakeline outlets . Use this one for MY and plug the two extra ports with the plugs provided in the MY kit.
