Could almost see myself in one the other day schmick, like new CLK430 from 2000 ($175,000) to 2011 , 80,000km $35,000.
If I had that sort of money I'd prefer a fleet of old turbo subes

Bugger...just did a nice long reply, only to be timed out & lose it!
Oh well, basic theme was...
SUVs have come a long way from the bad old days when they were big heavy lumps of steel sitting on a truck chassis.
Now they are much more like cars. Dont expect it to handle quite as well, but its not far behind.
I would make sure it has ABS. ABS & ESC are so good that they are now mandatory on all new cars sold in Oz.
You know how good Outbacks are, ie build quality, reliability, design, etc. Well Foresters are just the same. The advantage of a Forester is it gives you more offroad ability but its up to your personal preference. I'd suggest a few test drives, you'll soon know if you like it or not.
Final point is with "rebirthing" out of control, I would get an independant inspection done. If you're buying from a dealer they will look out for & guarantee against dodgy repairs, but at approx $130 (Vic) its cheap insurance for peace of mind & hopefully avoid buying a lemon.

5star safety rating...cool

Oh yeah, gotta love that!mud_king91 wrote:Well ill keep looking round... forester is for the missus i want a t/ charged outback or a late model rs lib wagon if they exist

Mud King i'd drive a few so she can see if she likes it on the road. If its for her then the offroad ability prob isnt an issue. I could be wrong...
Why dont you get a turbo Forester & an N/A Outback for her?
