EJ22 into 89 mpfi touring wagon
hi guys basically all i wanna know is what it costs really iv got a 91 liberty wagon with an ej22 and auto box its cosmeticallystuffed but everything mechanical works and iv got a 89 touring wagon with the dual range manual and MPFI motor i want to keep the manual but install the EJ22 what does it cost and what parts do i change over ?
If you do it your self, Its about $2000-$3000
If you already have the engine etc, should be less than $2000

Pretty much what I was going to say.TOONGA wrote:cost ... how well lined are your pockets?
Expenses directly attributable to my engine conversion came to about $1600, including $600 for the engine. A lot more than that has been spent along the way to upgrade things that complement the conversion.
From the lib you'll need engine with all ancillaries, ECU and the engine-ECU wiring harness. Some people also use Lib radiator, but AFAIK that requires some body work to fit.
Have a look around - there are plenty of good build threads.

And if you can do without bright colours and shiny bits, it'll probably be a bit cheaperguyph_01 wrote:If you do it your self, Its about $2000-$3000

Forgot to mention, my cost was based on doing all the work myself.

Wasn't talking about the bright colours and shiny bits that came to $2000, its more the new parts, new clutch kit, new engine mounts, new Tbelts, Wpump, idlers, loom cut down, fans, custom twin core radiator, exhaust, etc etc etcGOD wrote:And if you can do without bright colours and shiny bits, it'll probably be a bit cheaper

Just have a look at what you need and make a list.. write down some prices next to it, then start saving.. you'll never regret it
You know you are getting old when the candles on your birthday cake start to cost more than the cake itself.
