Stock Outback and Qld beaches?

Post by Damned67 » Mon May 30, 2011 1:51 pm

Hi All,
I've decided that it's time to get out and bog my 98 (manual) Outback in the sand.
I'm in Brisbane and thinking that Bribie might be my first port of call.

I know there's plenty of members on here who regularly hit the beaches in their subies, but most of them seem to be lifted.

Just how much of a nightmare can I expect it to be?

I would like to think that once I'm on the 'hard' sand, all will be great, but I'm a touch concerned about getting through the soft stuff first.

Cheers!

You will be fine. A few tips:

Plan to travel the beach a few hours either side of low tide.

Hit the soft spots with a little bit of speed and give it plenty of right boot on the way through. Momentum is key on the soft stuff. Pick your gear too - dropping down a gear before you hit a soft patch is much easier on teh car than trying to snap change half way through.

let your tyres down to 25PSI for starters. You can always go lower if you get in trouble.

have fun. post some pics on the forum
