Rust treatment

Post by subybrumby » Sun May 29, 2011 2:09 am

Just after some advice please. My trailer is starting to get quite a few bubbles of rust on the floor and sides. Its just starting and I want to get on top of it. Its from having wet stuff in there and being a bit lazy in getting it dumped in time. No holes yet.

Whats the best way to treat it and whats the best gear to rust proof it with. Have all the millions of little bubbles gotta be hacked off?

Thanks,

Bought it new a few years ago and suspect the steel checker floor is probably low grade steel susceptable to rust.

a load of organic material overnight could strip zinc plating off, wonder if it would clean your paint bubbles, then a load of eucychip has enough stuff in it to coat bare metal with anti rust stuff. maybe best to leave it bare and spray tray with lanotec

3M has a rust dissolver ? haven't used it so not entirely sure of its' success. I have used their rust converter on the battery tray in the brumby and that worked amazingly
