Assistance with Tonneau

Post by theconcierge » Wed May 18, 2011 9:12 am

Hi everyone

Just looking for some assistance with a brumby tonneau cover. First of all, I need to replace six of of the ropes, I think i will just get a motor trimmer to do that for me.

Now, my brumby doesn't have the four circle fastener points on the tail gate ( must have been painted). Now I have found spares at Supercrap which you use a rivet gun to put on. Can someone please measure the distances for me so I can get them in the correct spot?

Also, I don't understand how the cover connects at the front near the window? There something on the cover but nothing on the ute itself, so I must be missing something. Again, could someone take a photo of what should be there so I can work out what is going on!

Thanks heaps guys!

First off, woulda been nice if you told us that you found and bought a Brumby :)

These points vary depending on who made tarp. Some are just long length of stretchy cord woven in and out of the tarp eyelets, pulling it down over the retainers. Another is like what sounds like you have separate stretchy loops to pull down over each retainer

In this style you need to place the retainers to suit the position of the loops of your tarp. If you have the SUBARU badge in tailgate on RHS , the centre of the hole to drill is 13 to 14mm above the badge. Tie string line around your side retainers from left to right side sweeping over the tailgate and should give you an idea where to stick 'em so they at least look good. Tarp makers usually want your car to make tarp fitr car to avoid disasters. Did ya get the one from the traders fixing' the clutch?

The bit goes between window edges is just a piece of right angle aluminium with the clips press studs fitted up for your front fixing

Ok, here is a picture. Where did you get the cover? I have all the mounting bits but no cover. Maybe you should give me yours and save yourself the hassle;)

Hey Steptoe,

Sorry mate, I was trying duck under the radar until I did a few things - obviously you worked it out straight away. The answers can be found here

Thanks for the advice - the ropes are the individual ones, there is a place out in fyshwick who I am going to take it to - will do this before I do the tail gate
