RX rally car on ebay

Post by sven '2' » Wed Mar 02, 2011 10:29 pm

Thought given the number of rally zealots on here this needed a more prominent place than just the FS section.

Enjoy - linky

It was originally built here in Canberra, and has only done a season or two of rallies.
All the good bits, very fresh, would be a great buy!

Imagine the build cost with all those goodies - be a lot more than the starting price...

Spike - you'll never go close to building one for this price....if an RX is really what you want, sell a kidney or two to make it happen!

Have to agree, go for it Spike - you have been talking up your desire to enter into motorsport - this is a gift at that price!!

[quote="sven '2'"]you have been talking up your desire to enter into motorsport[quote]

im already in motorsport
i just need to get a dedicated rally and stop having a car for multiple uses

i cant build a car for that price no, but 2 things are stopping me, i know a lot of the history, and the distance 5000 dollars and then i need to get the car over here

whereas i have a FACTORY RX rally car sitting in coffs harbour that ive bought site unseen, ive seen the log book and thats it.

i just have to organise shipping down here, but i dont want to ship it down here, enter it then destroy it.

The history of this one is what makes it so good, its better than an old factory car and is practically brand new!

Any details on the car you have bought from Coffs? My old one was up that way....

sorry to steal the thread but if anyones intrested in an original rx turbo sedan 87 model that is pretty well clean and unmolested i'm putting mine up for sale very shortly.Car originally was owned by Temby Automotive in Victoria, has been pretty well maintained up until the last year, had the motor rebuilt by Temby approx 20,000km ago ,does not use a drop of water or oil, tubo was also rebuilt at the same time.Interior is absolutely excellant condition for its age,car has been resprayed, woodrim wheel,3 inch exhaustall in all is a great little car and drives excellant.Has the original h pattern wheels, does need new tyres and clutch is on its way out (although i havent had it adjusted properly yet,i noticed the cable is newish).Body is pretty good ,but does have a a cpl of little dents here and there from carpark encounters, car has not been offroaded as far as i can tell.

the car in coffs is locked in deep in a shed. Its an original factory rally car, im unsure of who drove it but it was campained by subaru of australia for 85 to 88 i belive, maybe be wrong.

the guy i brought it from is heavily involved in the managment of arc and knows my father and the fact that im campainging the L series wagon in the TRE season and knew that i want to uprgade to an rx. The notion was that he would give my dad the car but i ended up paying a tenth of the cost of the one posted here.

if i was to bring it down here id either drive it too hard and destroy it, the factory cars are custom and different from any others, this one included. So a simple body swap would be out of the question.

By keeping it there till both me and dad consider im ready were preserving a peice of subarus history

Good work - is it one of the Group A cars? Werent that many around, so it certainly narrows things down to who the original owner was. Has it been resprayed Blue & Yellow?

Get some pics or we will all think your making it up!

ive got none of either
we bought it sight unseen, ive only seen the photocopies of the log book

the details i know is that it was built in 1985/86 raced through 86. it was originally built to the specs found on the faberit website.
powered by one of the first EA82T, but i will have to check if this is still the original engine

i belive it was one of the group A cars im not too sure.
yeah i probably should ask for some pics to see for myelf
