The gearbox will be the limitation of a straight line streeter.

Most Subaru gearboxes are made of glass
when out behind big power.

And some can clap out with lower power too.

Get it to stop, handle and good 5/6 speed first

im sort of with H top but not completly

the 5 speed gearboxes have been a little weak, but some are a little stronger IE rally cars (doesnt mean they dont go splut)
a less powerfull EJ T or 25 to get some power and talk but dont go overboard, if its a sedan some rally styled wheels slightly larger brakes, and learn how to tune the suspension

the good thing is a lot can be collected from the scrap yard to do it with just look a little up market
