it is a normal thread.
heat her up.
its also amazing how well smashing it afew times with a hammer works.
also a super dooper breaker bar. Find a strong piece of metal pipe and use it as an extension.

It is usually torqued up to 150ft/lb which is bloody tight. If it has been there for a few years, it could take quite a bit more force to crack it. I used a 3/4" rattle gun to undo mine.

yeah it really calls for 3/4" gear to work with that nut sometimes. I've busted a half inch breaker bar on one once too.
Get a 3/4" breaker bar and socket and go to town with a big long extension.

Ask yer dad if it was maybe Valiants that had the left hand thread on the left hind side! Coz it wasn't Falcons. Yep, been there and broke a damn fine half inch breaker bar on same thing. Upgraded to a 3/4" breaker and socket to match, bit of water pipe sleeved over bar for extension and no wuckers from there on.
borrowed a breaker bar off my cousin who's a heavy duty diesel mechanic did the trick quite easily
cheers for the info though.
