Potential Buyer

Post by jgweat » Mon Nov 08, 2010 7:44 pm

Hi!,

New to the forum as im looking to buy a Brand New Impreza R or RX hatch and have found it hard to find reviews on the internet.

Currently drive a FG XR6 manual and am looking to get into a smaller car. Test drove a brand new impreza hatch on the weekend and was quite impressed as all I had test drove previously was focus and corollas.

Few things concern me:

I know little about subarus or impreza's and cant find any reviews on the net in terms of quality of build etc... All I can find are reviews about cosmetics and fuel economy. Most the reviews I have found have been pretty negative.

Fuel consumption was another thing, obviously I expect it to be more than a FWD small car but I dont want a car thats consuming as much as my falcon which isnt to bad at 11.5l/100.

I have found the interior and drive quality to be better than others in its class. A big concern for me is the quality of the car, I plan to have this car a long time (10 years +) as I am looking to buy a house and dont want to spend anymore money on cars. Please share your experiences.

All help would be appreciated!

Hi and Welcome jgweat :)

Sorry to hear that you spent your hard earned money on a Falcoon  You'll be very happy with a Suby but like you said.. AWD uses more fuel than a FWD car :( But reliability and safety wins hands down on the Subies

I'd go looking for a RS (2.5L) model around 2005 onwards that way you're not paying too much and the new car price drop has happened ;)

Good luck with your search and let us know how it turns out.

Cheers,
Paul

Im a bit biased but spend a little more and buy a turbo diesel forester you won't regret it, I know my wife is so much happier these days now she has one
