Me Wagon out of commision:(

Post by guyph_01 » Sun Oct 31, 2010 1:10 pm

Hi,

This started I think at our last trip at two rocks were I suspected the clutch did on a few occasions a wired thing that I didn't think was normal. A few weeks ago the car developed a small strange rattling noise that came when from the clutch area and that would go away when I pushed the clutch in.

Anyway Today about a km from home, she just got stuck in gear, :S, pulled it out of gear and she didn't want to go back in any gear. Checked the cable, seems to be ok, Tighten it a bit, no change, Fork seems to be working normally but I definitely feel the pedal softer.

I'm not sure but what I'm thinking is some how the spring one the pressure plate either are broken or aren't held properly and when I press the clutch in its soft and not opening.
I had welded, strengthen the fork so I don't think its the fork

Will have to take it apart and see what happened:(

Also, how long is a clutch pressure plate supposed to work for??? Its been in the car since June 2009. I would have expected the clutch disk to wear out first.

Shit, I need to get her running by next weekend:(

Possibly the clutch fork is broken or bent, I've heard of that happening a few times with a beefed up pressure plate.
Hopefully it's just that cause it's cheap to fix! Just put another one in, but get someone to weld an extra little brace to it - need a decent welder to do it though because I think the metal the fork is made out of is difficult to weld, and need to make sure the welding doesn't actually weaken it.
