Thanks! Did you buy a new uni joint for the power steering? I have a 2nd hand one here which I'm hoping is OK, it looks OK anyway.
By the way if for some reason somebody is desperate for a picture of what is definitely a longer thermostat housing off the car, I can take a photo of one I have sitting at home (waiting to be used).

I used a Impreza (GC Model) as I didn't get it in the original delivery of the "complete" kit.. but Jules called back into the wreckers and grabbed it but seeing that the Impreza one fits and works fine I haven't changed it over
BTW.. I forgot to mention that with the vacuum line extension I had to die grind part of the manifold (pics in my album) so the pump would fit. Also I used another vacuum line and oneway valve (make sure it's the correct way around) to make the join

works a treat.

Sorry Hylton but I thought you might have seen the pic of mine in my album

Ok thats good - lets see the cost difference between the parts and see what original part costs would be - but the rebuild cost sounds good so far.
Here are the images of my pulley taken today. Deffo had a belt running in the centre at some point I'd say.

Yeah Giles that's the correct one needed.. now Jules doesn't need to bring his ( thinking of you of course and not my head

). I'll be going over to Guyph's place this morning and hopefully all is good and fit for service
Haven't heard back from my parts guy yet so hopefully I'll have an answer on Monday

Consider the pulley dept is sorted. Just as well you did not paint up the pulley and hide those tell tale rust marks

Ok Giles.. good to see you can still keep in contact with the other side of the world whilst your away
Well today's update

I picked up the Power Steering Kit from Guyph yesterday for the sum of $100AUD
The kit needs a lot of work and I'll see what I can source locally and report in
I have PM'd Jonno (steptoe) and hopefully he'll send the Thermostat housing shortly

Thanks ! Really appreciate your help there and the price is fair too so thanks also to Guyph:D
To my untrained eye it all looks to be there ( minus the housing?).

Will be interested to hear your report back on it's condition - like all good stuff It should be possible to make it all serviceable again.
Could you acquire me a new drive belt so I am starting from a good place with it? Maybe also a new correct size belt for the A/C too as thus far have struggled with the exact size for that too !
I can org some cash for you from Wednesday onwards. PM me your details and the amount needed.
Once again BIG thanks!!!

Cheers

Just checked out those eBay parts - Yes makes total sense for me to obtain those here so work on that basis.
Between me and Howard at HDC we will fix it all up.
I will organise those parts on Wednesday when I get back home.
Look forward to your further updates.
Thanks once more
Ps Jonno did you have a piccy of the housing?

Aww, now you ask....I did and wiped it. Just same as the ones Hylton found and linked up - only genuine

It is all packed and sealed

labeled, weighed up , 248grams (postage goes up at 251grams) and sits beside keys and comms for the morning. It is nearly midnight here ,AEDST. Also sits with my completed tax returns ready to post TF

Yeah Giles I tried to sit on both fences and be as fair as possible

I drove my Brumby to Guy's place so I tried to think of all the parts I used and the only things that I saw were missing were the obvious things like the Tie Rod and End, the Rubber Boot, a rubber mount around where the half saddle sits and the Thermostat Housing. Jonno as mentioned will be sending the housing shortly so I'll get you a pic once it arrives.
I shall buy you 2 new belts (1 p/str & 1 a/c) and the missing rubber boot as I could only find universal ones on Ebay
As for the costs.. I shall PM you with my details

Yeah that's what I was thinking and they are really easy to fit, so you and Howard will have no troubles

Yeah, sometimes you don't realise the value of things 'til they're gorn. I just realised after I licked a few stamps to post off my tax return. I used to be a bit of a nerd and collected stamps - new ones, gutters, blocks, sheets etc, then discovered that Aus Post were making a buck out of printing stamps , a fee for service, and not having to provide that service because we stash away for growth. A few years ago when market fell out of many stamp stuff , discovered auction houses selling for about half face value for business to save on postage.
Started using my own collection with special ones put out of the way, until Saturday when I picked out a coupla 60 cents jobbies. Sickening feeling as I think I realised they may have been the misprints - sperm whale appearing on behalf of the hump back - rings a bell. They were going to be my retirement fund. GULP !!
