Looks pretty neat!lefty wrote:found this one from the USA but it costs US$120 plus $60 shipping
stuff that I'm going to DIY something similar
Why not do something like the first one but use some conduit the same size to slide the rods into - this way the rods are safely contained in the conduit and no hooks are allowed to fall out and create a problem.
Space will be the issue on this one I reckon... Just sharing thoughts, it'd be cheaper than the $180.00 anyway.

The conduit would be a great Idea but would not allow the reels to be kept on the rod. The whole point of having a system like this is so you can rig up your rods the night before and load them in the car where they wont get broken and you wont catch yourself on hooks.......... Conduit pipes are good if stored with the rod only but when you have the reel on the weight is put onto the runners which isn't a good thing.

Yes it would. All you do is cut a groove for the support arm of the reel to slot into, do this on the top side of the conduit so that the rod slides in and locks into position using this groove. You then use a piece of elastic cord or the like to hold it in place.lovey80 wrote:The conduit would be a great Idea but would not allow the reels to be kept on the rod.
The support arms to hold the rods would sit closer to the rear seats to make room for the reels and would probably sit lower from the ceiling of the subi.
A bit of imagination should have this done. I'm now wishing I had have thought about this before I got one of those pedestrian graters that mounts on the front bar - the conduit would protect the rod a pot load more than hanging them in the air does!

After sending several emails to the US seller and getting zero replies, I had a go at making my own using a telescopic handle, curtain rod, GPS mounts and foam tubing. All up cost around $25. Not as pretty but it does the job!I will also clip the back carrier to the child safety restraints so the rods don't become spears
I can fit a 6"6' rod. I haven't tested how much weight it can handle yet but it feels pretty strong although I won't be carrying my Alvey on it
