Hi, anyone know how to make shifts in a 86 xt automatic trans a bit harder?
Cant find anyting on them in the sevice manuals available.

Rebuild with tighter friction plate tolerances mate.
Its not an easy thing to fix :(
But a service wont go astray

There will be a pilot pressure regulator, which should be adjustable, but i dont know of any FSM for the 3sp auto boxes, only the later 4sp ones

Gees, you'd really need to find someone that knows these JATCO boxes and change the spring tension in the valve body or change the fluid transfer hole diameter says the fella that knows bugger all about autos and never wants to either....

ive got the 3 spd auto covered as well as the 4eat in my '89 fsm.
