:???:G'day O' Knowledgable ones,
how do I tell which carby I have on my 92 Brumby I do know that it is a Hitachi but thats it.
What has happened is the fuel filter in the engine bay was connected up wrong and the filter screen has come dislodged and I feel some crud has entered and partially blocked the jets so I want to pull it apart and clean it all up but will need the correct gasket and overhaul kit before starting the job.
My manual says that it should be a DCP 306-26 how do I tell if the one on Scamp is the right one or not.
Thanks in advance

I 'think' (ouch) that these utes got same carby right through and when you order a carby kit in GOSS or fuel miser it will come with a heap of useless bits so kit does a few generations of the Hitachi for Subes and others of the era. Beware listings that show Brumby with EA82 engine as some listers assumed anything Subaru after 1985 got EA82 until EJ. I am surprised 92 Brumby does not list as EJ - and I 'd like a carby kit for an EJ powered Brumby thanks, same old Hitachi carb though
If you have carb off and cleaned up with wax and grease remover or carby cleaner the markings are etched in darker colour on the float chamber outside

Don't get a carb from an EA82 to put on your EA81 engine (brumby standard) - they don't fit! I found this out the hard way
Not happy Jan! Spent a day trying to swap the auto choke from one carbi to the other after finding that the EA82 carb is slightly wider at the butterflies where it bolts to the manifold. My genius said to remove the auto choke and swap - only thing was EVERYTHING was wider/larger!
As I said, NOT HAPPY JAN! One day wasted!
Cheers

Carbie off
Well I bit the bullet made some drawings took a few pics then got to work.
The carbie is off and yes it is a DCP306-26 now all I have to do is source a gasket and rebuild kit, strip it down clean reassemble then replace lol simple mmm we will see.
Oh yeah anybody know where I may be able to source a carbie kit??
More to come later
