Leave lights on
Leave lights on
I have a new B4 (New Style) Stationwagon. I want to leave the lights on all the time. Of course they go off when the car is turned off. I was told that this is not good for the car. That it uses up the battery. Any comments would be appreciated.

i have an 89 wagon and it does the same thing, at the momnent its dark when i leave for work so the lights are on and i usually forget to turn them off so the just go off with the ign.and it starts fine doing this. but the best thing to do if you remember is just turn them off as you start the car, batteries cop a flogging on start up!!!

Speaking of which on each account, Use to have a VX Commodore which had Daytime Driving Lights so the battery was really copping it when you start the car. then I got a VZ Commodore which didn't have DDL but it did have the lights with the light sensor on it, So sometimes it would start with lights on, sometimes it would start with the lights off.
i reckon when you buy new battery you get the biggest and highest cca one that will physically fit. also the import ones (my 94wrx) seem to have the normal big battery post terminals and the aussie ones have little posts (my 00wrx, gen2 o/back). i got leads changed to big posts as the batteries are cheaper!

Its a bigger battery (its same series as VS Commodore), I think mine is 520cca, you need a bigger bracket but the holes are there for bigger battery ready to go (thats for Gen2 - dunno about others)... I have noticed a better quicker start up specially cold & warm.. Maybe its because of the old battery that was on its way out and had a lot of trouble - who knows..
