ok motor is in and running....... but when on full throttle while driving its like it runs out of fuel....... the carby fuel pump is in but when the ignition is on it is pumping...
how should i wire the fuel pump up?
anyone know why it would be coughing and splattering on WOT.?

If it splutters at wot, id put 99% on the fuel filter.
There is a solenoid for the fuel pump that is controled by a revoloution sensor, so that if the car crashes and the motor stops, fuel stops pumping.
I dont have the wiring diagrams on me, but it should be in a haynes or gregories manual.

The standard ea82 wiring is a bit of a nightmare. I had the same spluttering problem on my L wagon & tried to track it down to the fuel pump. I thought that the fuel pump wasn't working, but the fact is that it doesn't operate unless the motor is turning.
I once put on an aftermarket fuel pump in an MY Wagon & wired it direct to the ignition, so that it was always on when the ignition was on. I don't know if this is recommended but it was a jury rig in the bush. It lasted at least another 2 years & then the car was sold.
Anyway, on my L series it wasn't the fuel pump after all, it was a broken timing belt. It would be worth checking yours.

Has it run since you put the new timing belts in?
One of the belts may be out a tooth or the distributer may be in the wrong position. It's reeal easy to have the distributor put out when changing belts.
To check the dizzie put #1 cylinder at the top of it's compression stroke & check that the rotor is pointing at the #1 lead. That's the way I do it but someone else may have an easier way.

finally fixed it....because it is a carby motor into a fuel injected car.. the fuel lines into the engine bay are slightyly different and the sizes vary..... so on the carby there was too much fuel returning back to the tank....so we put a smaller return fitting on the carby and now she goes 100% good.
except there must be a bearing or something gone in the aircon or idler pully because it is ticking and squeeling...... replaced the power steering pump with a spare one so its not that
timing belts are spot on
cheers

Are you saying that with a larger return line to the tank that the carb does not keep enough fuel??? My L runs OK if I'm driving Miss Daisy around, but as soon as I give it some stick, it starts surging like its running out of fuel. I raised the float level in the carb and blew out my fuel lines but still the same.
