92 l series performance upgrade

Post by drof351 » Thu Mar 18, 2010 11:49 pm

Hi guys, Which engine, gearbox etc is the best repower for a 92 l series? After horse power and off road ability. What have yous had success with? I'm guessing ej20 turbo, ea82 manual gearbox with beefed internals etc But after tried combos.
Thanks

Hi,
Ej20t can be done but you kinda always break stuff.
Best is ej22 or ej25 with the ea82 d/r box or a 4wd D/R off a liberty with the 3.7 low gear from a L series box if you want to go offroad.
You will also need some lift.

There is plenty of info on this site mate, You need to search and read. Most of your questions can be answerd like that. And as i have learnt, There's been plenty of guys that have done many things somtime crazy thing before you or even me... All you have to do is search and read:)

It mainly comes down to budget and how much you're willing to spend on your car? There are so many options available from cheap to expensive. If you're looking to spend around $1000 then look at upgrading your original engine and if you're looking to spend $2000 and up then look at an engine conversion.

stock ej20g behind a ea82 d/r gbox if driven nicely will be fine.

this combo will also eat most v8's on the road and is nice and toquey for offroad use. I had this combo with a 3inch bodylift, 2inch suspension lift and 29inch all-terrains. A pretty leathal setup for subi 4x4ing. Rear lsd/locker works wonders also

that is all

I have an engine and turbo out of a 2004 liberty. Whats the chances of getting a cut down harness, computer, intake exhaust etc? Thanks
