Front diff

I think I have done my front diff on my 97 outback, could any one please tell me how much a front diff would cost 2nd hand?

When I drained the diff oil, a green gear came out, i think it is the spedo gear, can any one confirm that?

And does any one know where if there is a free service manual for the front diff on the net?

yep that sounds like the speedo gear

is your outback a manual or an auto?

and if a manual 5 or 6 speed?

does the car still drive fine?

the speedo gears are plastic. just becaues the speedo is stuffed doent mean the diff is. YOu will have to disassemble the whole thing to replace the speedo gear though

I can confirm its speedo gear set - ive seen green and white speedo gearset.
As vincet said above - is the speedo still working, if it is wouldnt worry much but if you do - you need to open up the gearbox and clean it out & install new speedo, i have a few spare ones in the garage.
