ej on the way

Hi all,
Just secured a 90 legacy ej22 5 spd wagon for my first ej conversion. It ended up with major roof damage during a little off road excursion. Local car that has been untouched at the wreckers for a year and scheduled to be scrapped. Asked for a quote last weekend and today I got a call saying 240.00 buys the car if I pull at their yard, and they wil move/roll over the car as I need. Any left overs they will scrap. Think the ej20g gets traded for a ej22...we'll see.

thats a good price for the whole car if you can grab the whole drive train

it may make things easier when you do the conversion

I hope so. I now have 3 ea82T cars, 1 bad motor, 1 unknown until I get it home, and a ej-g we never got:)....and I still have to decide what car gets the ej and exchange the ej-g for something more domestic.

You know, I bought a subi at another wreckers saturday also, thought they would quote alot higher. I was surprised. For the price I can take anything I want, just not the whole vehicle as that would create state paperwork and leave me with a ...well...Ill post a pic tomorrow, to dispose of after I cannibalize it. Works for me:)

an afterthought...just to clairify a couple things.

1) When the little lady gives me a funny look cause our place looks like a used subaru car lot...I blame you guys:)

Make sure you grab all the little things you think you won't need

Anything that's connected to the wiring loom should be grabbed as well.

All the best with it - I love stripping out condemed subi's for conversions down the track

Mark is displaying syptoms of Subarumania, coming on hard and fast. I had a dose of this a few years back when I bought two red GLTA's in the same morning. Just come back from a run down the Araluen Valley past unlocked orchards with ripe peaches on the tree in the remaining beast, it went well. Saw 6500 in second when angered by girl negotiating traffic with a phone to her ear - I'm certain she lost reception due to the zaust note

Mark, you'll need some crates, shelves and labels and keep a record of what is stored where and what it came off if you get any more cars....

Bennie, Under hood of course...shall I gut everything under the dash as well? I'm stopping after work to pay for the car, but wont strip it until weekend after this coming weekend. Any suggestions/guidance greatly appreciated.
Been reading everyone's conversion threads again as of last night:)

haha, I'm already thinging 'bout how to create some storage space in a couple of sheds here...got to get these projects finished up before a Brat I cant resist comes up:)

Ouch!

You'll want to grab the under dash wiring as well - and the ECU of course

I've never pulled the wiring from under the dash of a liberty as I was lucky enough to inherit a wiring loom to cut down.

It looks bad, but the car took a ride into a 10 to 12 ft deep ditch on a stretch of hiway here thats elevated to keep it above the highest lunar tides and typically its wet with each tide. Alot of mud and such at the front end but the rad and ac cond are untouched as well as engine bay. Lucky for the fella it was a low tide.

Well Mark , it is nearly 1am Saturday, so here is ya wake up call to go get stuck into it

Hand cleaner and towels, and do a roll call of your tools. Brrr, what temp for pull cars apart. We are in our high 20's and 30's Celsius

Will you have have problems with registration with different engine or larger capacity engine that isnt standard? (ie. have to get engineer to certify the engine mods?)

Its still Friday here..430 pm, just got the 86 gl home and set up a small heater to dry it out. Were running mid 40 to 50 F currently. Tons of rain, flood watchs around rivers here. Yep, I've been making a mental list but I will probably forget something

, but I'm not to far from home. I'll be up at 400 am tomorrow, a couple cups of coffee and its tool load time.

HI Tristan,
Here we do not deal with any of the regulations you have there. Its pretty much a free for all as far as vehicle mods with the exception of emissions controls, some counties require testing before you can renew your tabs, every 2 years I think, and there is a year limit too. I havnt had to test my cars for the last 10 years or so.

Spent a few hours at the wreckers today, man these cars have a ton of wiring in them! Pulled everything under the hood and from the interior that I can use. Next weekend its drive and power train. The rx was my hauler today as my truck has a valve somewhere in cyl 3 and is not happy very about it.
