Rear brake pads part # L Series

Post by steptoe » Wed Nov 11, 2009 10:14 am

Went off to get a set of new rear brake pads for my L Series knowing them to be DB419 (makes sense as the fronts are DB418 ) I figured they may not be in stock at some places. My autopro guy says no part number on the computer so means never sold them. He tried two of his suppliers - no such thing on their books either. A trip along to a brkae chain ABS to find I am in luck because they were FREE for the day only !! Which means nil stock. But hang on says the dude, he tried another listing and all of a sudden withdraws the FREE offer and finds the pads in Lucas brand as GDB 381 (WVA 21526 14.80)

Sticker on the back of the box has "AUSTRALIAN REFERENCE DB419, made in EU NON ASBESTOS"

I pulled out Subaru TOKICO pads - some with just a millimetre of pad to spare.

So, jot this down if you have L Series rear disc brakes for future reference.

Box says to suit Subaru 1600 and 1800.

Figuring some market serviced by Great Britain had 1600 engines in L Series with disc brake rears?

The GDB may just be the UK's ID number system like our after market uses DB in Bendix anyway.
