It is possible to do an engine swap for the same engine in about 3 hours given enough red tops (lagers).

I could check it out for you if you like and give an opinion.

I WOULD NOT try to drive a dodgy car 130 k let alone 1300.
My ea82 died in 100k, started good, died, melted piston, cracked heads.
Don't worry about me buying it from under you, I have 4 cars and two rebuild projects, don't need any more for the moment, the threat of death awaits me if I bring another car home.
Car 1 & 2 are in Perth. Car 3 is in NSW - hence part of my dilemna. I only saw it advertised this arvo and I doubt it will be avalable after tomorrow - it really is that much of a bargain, especially over there where you don't need you pay $1200 freight !!

so the brumby is in east?
there are plenty of cheap 81s around, I know of at least 3 in Gin Gin, and they are in Quokka every week.

hmmm yeah I could pick one up on my way to Perth. Will have to have a look in the quokka again - never thought of looking for an engine in there - thanks.
Although the problem is that it is only temporary and will come out for the WRX conversion -so maybe I should just do the conversion while I am in perth ?

I am gonna fit an EA82 into my Brumby one day and get about 5mm clearance either side of the engine to untouched chassis rails , ute of standard height. Seen them in one, also seena quad cam in a Brumby with uncut rails (although they were massaged a little)

If I was you, and pressed for time and funds I'd buy the one already sweated over

Now I just have to wait until it gets toPerth to decide what to do - hopefully it might be an easy fix.

Where abouts over east? there are plenty of us over this side as well. But personally I don't think 1300ks is that far for a brumby I did well over 30 thou in mine with a stuffed head I just bolted new head gaskets on and kept the oil and water up to it!
87 targa brumby (Neglected),
92 targa brumby (weekend runabout),
97 Lifted Outback (Dailey drive),
05 outback safety (Too cheap to pass up),
90 model liberty (was to be scrapped instead sold to workmate)
+ others.

Yep purple it will remain. Should look good with some nice silver rims to match the seats.

I hope it is as nice as it looks in the photos. It sounds like it should be after talking to the seller.

Its in Bensville, near Gosford. Yeah hopefully it won't be anything major wrong with it and it will get me home.

OK I spoke to the woman I bought the car from and she says "the engine is just tired and takes a while to warm up. It needs the filters replaced to give it back its performance "

I think she means the lifters !! So it looks like it will get me home as it is but I may be towing a small trailer with an engine and gearbox as well as some weight in the tray.

How easy is it to replace the lifters in these motors (EA81) and where would be the best place to get some from ?
