line pressure valve

Post by wrxer » Sat Sep 26, 2009 12:44 am

do drum brake rear end subaru have a line pressure valve fitted? if so where is it?
i read on here about plenty of rear drum to disc conversions but no mention of the rlp valve. the purpose of this valve is to hold some pressure in the rear lines so as to stop the brake shoe springs pulling all the way back in, resulting in a very low brake pedal height.
if you use a rlp valve with discs it holds the brakes on.
they were fitted on other cars on the outlet port for the rear brakes at the master cylinder.
what the go with subarus?

if the back brakes are adjusted right the brake shoe wood not return back like u are saying .
u have to under stand that rear drum brake shoes only move about 1 mm or less before contact with the drum if adjusted right .

above is the complete service manual for the wagon hatch and brumby (the subaru one) the brake section (chapter 10) shows the complete brake line system for the brat aka brumby and there is now plv valve in the line as far as I can see :)

hope that helps
