Bloody oath!!! Looks the goods. It would be ideal.

New sponsor? Or is it some one we already know?

Once the crane is moved, why not adapt a tilt bed for the race car - that way no trailer to tow. Or do you have more than 1 car to tow? Or heaps of spares to transport to each race?

Just a thought .....

Ahh...no....I'm actually going to have to buy it. It'll primarily be used for work and replace the two prime movers I have now. The only hold up is the size. I would have liked it to be heavier but bogie drive dual cabs aren't very common so this one might have to make do. I need to find out the highest GCM I can register it as. Would be really good to pull my low-loader.

If I was going to have a dedicated transporter I would look at a single drive, dual cab body truck with a tilt-tray, pantech body and no crane but's it's a lot of money to have tied up just sitting there and it's not really big enough.
This way I can have a cheap 40 to 48 foot bogie trailer, just sitting there, but ready to hook up when it's time to go racing. Plan is to have a workshop, carry plenty of spares and might even be able to carry a second car if I stack them up.

Asia Construction Equipment-: asiaconstructionequipment.com.au

I was meaning that about the sponsor. Can't say that I recall seeing it before.

They came on-board just before Finke.
See this post: showpost.php?p=121663&postcount=803
They sell and service Chinese built earthmoving eqipment which is proving to be a cost effective alternative to US or Japanese products. After sales service is first class.

Have you checked out the ex-govt auctions? An ex-defence Mack (6-wheel drive) would be a great bit of kit for the towing you describe; however I don't know of any being dual cabs. We have some Unimog 6X6, but I doubt any would be ready for auction yet. They were set up as the Medium Recovery Vehicle, but ended up being nearly as heavy as the Mack Heavy Recovery Vehicle, and able to tow / drab / pull nearly as much, too.

Some of the ex-railway or ex-Telstra trucks set up for off road work might be another option.
Willie.

I already have a 6X6 Willie. It's a GM M945 and it's purely for off-road work.

But the last thing I'd want to cruise the highway is a big old 6 wheel drive Mack. I don't need an off-road truck at all. I'll either get this dual cab Acco or buy a new Isuzu Gigamax. They recently bucked them up to 90t GCM and you can still get a 6 rod model with cross-locks. Absolutely cannot buy any jap truck with both a dual-cab and bogie drive. It's either one or the other. But I digress.....

The entry forms for the Goondiwindi 400 have been posted.

I need to know who's definitely coming and I'll put up a separate thread for it. Jim & I are the only ones from our end so look out for a fast moving trayback Cruiser. We'll have the DP Chip cranked to 9 and the gas turned right up!

Additional crew members cost $10 each which I'll cover so you don't need to worry about who gets the free ones. Something that needs to be decided is the presentation dinner on sunday night. Tickets are $35 each and I don't know yet if they can be bought at the door. They would probably like to know numbers for catering. Jim and I will be going regardless of the outcome.

I've been trying to get some steering rack mounting rubbers as the old ones are shagged.
The rack originally came from the WRX Version 1 front cut and the engine crossmember is MY.
Frog tells me the Version I 1994 Impreza ones are not available so what else can we use? When did they change the design?
If I can't get new rubber ones I'll get synthetic but I'm worried they'll hold the rack too tight when it takes a hit.
Anybody?

Didn't need to Dane. Got the answer from Jeff at Crossbred.
Steering rack fits better than ever without crushing the bushes out of shape.
Car is all back together, just doing some last minute testing and tuning before we leave tomorrow.

Well the championship is all over for another year and all that's left is the points to be tallied. I've had a quick look over the point scoring and I'm fairly certain I've got it figured correctly.
It appears Colin Hunter has won Class 8 again with 837 points, Rob Chapman is 2nd with 623 points, Bowman is third with 432 points followed by us in 4th place with 383 points. The others all did all 5 rounds of the national championship whereas we only did 2. It's a vast improvement on last years effort but there's still a lot more we need to do.

The good news is that if my calculations are correct, and we won't know for sure until the official points are posted, but it would seem we have won the AORC Tri-Series. Bowman should be in 2nd place with Chapman 3rd.

I reckon! Are there plans to do the 5 races in the national championship or will that be too much to handle for the team and the budget?

Well done!

Cheers

Thanks Jeff. I'm certainly chuffed we did so well in the Tri-Series, considering we only made it to 2 of the 3 races. I guess there's a fair amount of luck involved. And 4th fastest Extreme 4WD in Australia? Go figure!

Are yes, the age old question of time & money. We certainly would like to get to more rounds if we can.
If I could just find enough good staff.......but most of them want to come away racing with me.

I spoke to my importer mate during the week for you. He is going to see what he can find in a 2.5 6 speed front cut while he is over there. He left on Sunday. Nothing will make it to this shipment but if he finds some thing he can get it on the next for you.

He didn't mention price but I am 100% certain it will be cheaper than any where else you would find one. It will be interesting to find out what he comes up with. Oh, he is also looking for a BP/BL manual 6 front cut, now I wonder what that will fit............
