96 Outback - 15" rims to 17"

Post by Briley » Thu Jun 25, 2009 10:36 pm

Hi,
I'm seeking some advise on the possibility of changing the standard 15" (55mm offset, profile 6JJ) rims on my 96 Outback with a set of 2009 WRX 17x7" rims which also have a 55mm offset. I have just replaced the coils with standard height King Coils and fitted New KYB struts at the same time. The tyres need replacing so I thought I'd change the rims at the same time. The car get very little if any offroad work. Any advise or opions would be greatly appreciated.

They'll bolt straight on, and fit without scrubbing but they might put the speedo out.
What is the O.E sizing for the Outback tyres, and the sizing on the WRX tyres?
Put them into either http://www.1010tires.com/TireSizeCalculator.asp or http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html and it'll you how far out (if any?) the speedo will be.

I disagree about the speedo - if he fits 17" on it with low profile tyres to suit, it shouldnt.
Otherwise if it is, you can always get JayCar's speedo corrector.
Cheers
