Where is the engine number on a EA82?

Can some one tell me where the engine number is on the actual engine of a EA82?

I would also like to know. I havent bothered to look, i have one out the front but its dark and too hard to read.

Maybe tomorrow i will see if i can find it and let you know.

At the front just above the timing belt, practically under the thermostat housing

You can just see the flat for it to the left of the EA82 badge, and in front of the end of the small coolant pipe

that is for those with a clean engine block, and for those with 20 years of crud on the block - it's the same place , just under the crud

Its a pretty clean engine so should be able to find it all right.
