Five speed for Brumby

Post by Brumble » Mon May 18, 2009 5:58 pm

I have recently pulled apart the five speed gearbox that I picked up for the brumby. Everything looks to be in really good condition, in fact four wheel drive looks like it may never have been used. Fifth gear is the only one that is showing any signs of excessive wear. Does anyone know of any companies that would sell aftermarket gear sets etc for a 1985 DL Wagon? I am also having trouble tracking down seals and bearings for the same box. CBC bearings are looking into it for me but they weren't very confident. Any help would be much appreciated.

I can tell you about CBC - they will be able to replace 75% of the bearings in the gearbox because some of the bearings are un-recognisable and an gearbox rebuilder place will be able to help, otherwise the bearings will be from Subaru... I dont know any after market places would sell gearset - best way is to find 2nd hand gearbox with reasonable kms from a wreck.

Thanks for that AlpineRaven. I guess I'll just have to wait and see what CBC come back to me with then see what other bits I need from there.

Bear in mind... I've came across to one bearing that had same part number but different size.. so make sure you get the correct sizes.

CBC got back to me today to inform me that their supplier has no listings for any L series subarus. I guess I need to keep looking.

Or try to find bearing part number then go to CBC with the numbers...

Cheers guys. I've got a breakdown of all the part numbers from Subaru so I might pay CBC a visit with those and see if I have any more luck.
