Subanator's new ride v.2 (Pics)

Post by subanator » Fri Feb 24, 2006 12:18 am

Look out Jaffa, there is another EA82T wagon lurking around in WA, and I just bought it! Pretty excited to finding it after passing up the opportunity to get a real nice RX recently locally too. :D :D :D

Found a '89 Tourer in good nick, sporting a nice set of 14" alloy wheels - white rims with scroll spokes, front mount bull bar , spots etc. It would appear that it has been converted for some time now from original MPFI. It was originally bought in QLD from original papers, but is registered in 8 series yellow WA plates (10 or more years back) doesnt really reveal much else.

The previous owner spent bucket loads on doing it up for reliability for his son who really wanted a Commonwhore, as he bought it with a overheating prob. I couldnt believe that they ripped the engine out and pulled the heads off to try and find a fault, when it turned out to be a blocked rad. :!:

Its had all new gaskets, seals, rad, hoses, and also all new CV's all round and maybe a clutch. Seen most of the receipts. Dave would wince at the fact Volkers in Rocky pulled the engine down, as that bloke there wouldnt know the arse end of a Suby anyway! Luckily the rest of the work was done at Peel Subaru.

I am still up for a few jobs already, like the dump pipe is holled and probably will need replacing, front springs are sagged out, windscreen will probably need to come out to fix minor rust, and of all things - the heater box is stuffed. Drivers door seal needs replacing, rear hatch struts soft.
Just got to get a lift into it and should be getting somewhere.

Only thing is I have a heavy schedule at work and home, and will be about a month or so before I can start on it. Will try and post pics on the weekend.
:D

Bugger - Cant believe what I done tonight.
The missus tried to move to car back today but couldnt start it due to a flat battery I caused by leaving the interior light on.

So when I got home, I had to jump start it, but in the dim light got the polarity around wrong on the battery. The battery must be stuffed as it had little of any kick by doing that, and my other car was running, so I thought it would spark a bit when connecting anyway.

Then I notice a cooking smell comming from the fusable link - ahhg. Got it running when I corrected it, but not to sure about the alternator now. Have battery on a charger, check again tomorrow.

Hey congrats on the buy, looking good! I'll be very interested to have a gander at this car and abit of a chat if we ever cross paths.
If I ever finish my conversion look out for me on the street, a fellow `89 Touring Wagon, white in colour.

hopefully I will be able to get out a bit more this year, should be able to catch up. Due to about a month or so of commitments, I wont be able to get the new wagon sorted yust yet, but will be in search of some replacement parts for any of the L wrecks around.
