MY & L eng crossmembers different
I finally got around to trying to fit up a crossmember from an MY to an EA82. All I had done to MY job was elongate the engine mount holes outwards.
Also noticed something i have yet to read elsewhere is that the angle of the sections that the engine mounts sit on are different between the MY and L Series crossmembers
I recall reading that for EJ into one of the earlier models a wedge is required to make up the difference.
So all those EA82(T)'s in MY must either be wedged up or placing mount under some abnormal strain to keep things flush if using EA82 mounts
and the turbo crossover exhaust pipe does not clear the standard MY crossmember - yet. More hammering of the heatshield stuff maybe before any crossmember soigery

Besides from a slight difference in engine mount angles what is your reason for the swap?
Yeah generally to clear turbo crossover/up pipe you need to actually cut part of the engine crossmember out and weld in a replacement section with enough clearance.

Yeah gathered that, I just wondered what other reasons you might have had for swapping crossmembers other than the slight difference in engine mounts? I thought most people just kept the original MY crossmember.
