I am surprised on the rebuild cost. I am looking at options for the RX and attempting to avoid the Lib thing atm. I was told about $330 + shipping total for a rebuilt rack. Oh well at least you sound please with the outcomes though and that's what counts (saving a few more coins is just an added bonus).
Toyota 105 Series LandCruiser (that nobody on here wants to really hear about).
RX Touring Wagon - fitted out for 4WDing (currently collecting dust).
RX Project - will be road only at this stage (and currently taking way to long to finish).

This is a good idea as I don't think it's possible without a lift kit. People should note that the angle of the input shaft of the Liberty rack is *slightly* different to the L series rack. With an extended steering linkage like you get with a lift kit the uni joints can soak up the extra angle but I believe it's a bit much with just standard length one. You'd really have to go the next step and fit the matching Liberty steering column.BlackMale wrote:...attempting to avoid the Lib thing atm...
I haven't actually tried fitting one to an unlifted car but I've heard this from somebody else. I could see the slight difference in angle holding the two different racks against each other not long ago.
Also...$330 + shipping sounds like a good price. I remember getting similar prices a while back when ringing around but it took a while, lots of places were alot more expensive. Might be an idea to just get it locally though, then you avoid the shipping costs.

Hey Bennie....well if my 04 Forry PS rack could be easilly fitted to my 85 Tourer you should have no problems....El_Freddo wrote:Hmmm... I've got an impreza PS rack (I think that's what it is - came with an EJ20), might give that a go at putting it in with the EJ.
Cheers

Does anyone have a full list of the stock standard 'LOCK to LOCK' steering info on Subes, from post 85 L's, including Libs, Forry's etc....???discotopotato03 wrote:Early Rex racks 3.7 turns lock to lock instead of 4.7 fro L/ NA Lib .
