Gday Folks

With a EA81 air con system

There is a V belt Pulley and a Ribbed Belt version

My question is
Is there a pulley that has a Rubbed belt a two V belt parts to make Power steering work?

If there isn’t can you switch out the pulley on the front of the compressor?

Good question MOAM,

The EA81 as far as I know never came out with a ribbed belt for the AC, just the V belt.

The clutch and pulley can be swapped on the front of the AC compressor - the trick is finding the parts to do it. An AC shop might be able to help here, or just have one from the parts catalogue that fits your needs. Prepare to pay through the nose for good quality kit - check out Silver Bullet’s MY wagon build if you haven’t already, you’ll see what I mean!

Cheers

Bennie

Thanks for the reply

I’ll ask my local Air Con specialists what parts they could have

It might be a struggle to find parts but I’ll post anything about it if I find stuff

What sizes are the pulleys and clutch on the v belt air con in a Brumby and how does it mount to the compressor itself?

Cheers MOAM

Good luck MOAM! Sounds to me like you might have a slightly non-factory system or one that's been modified in the past with a different compressor (I've seen a few like this) In my case I had the original Hitachi compressor but the front shaft seal was beyond saving, had to fork out for a new compressor. It was big $$$ but was worth it to me since the wagon is like a greenhouse in summer.

If you end up going down the same road as me the compressor in mine is Sanden CO-54923. The radiator shop that put it in made a tiny right-angle metal bracket and a thick washer to adapt the mounts. You'l also need the standard 3 groove V-belt crank pulley for the P/S to work.
