brumby drive belt

Post by auster » Tue May 17, 2022 11:38 am

Can anyone help me with what is the correct fan belt for a 1987 Brumby, no air con?

About half a dozen possibilities show up on eBay but they are all different and only one can be correct.

Of course, I could take the existing one off and measure it. However I can't afford to have the car off the road and because it has power steering, getting the belt off is a more complicated job.

Good stuff Subyroo.

Auster, I was going to ask if your non AC EA81 had a belt driven fan or not as this also has an impact on the belt size.

You could remove the belt and take it into a parts store - some have one of those devices where you put the belt on to measure it. Obviously doesn’t do well with broken belts, especially if there are missing bits!

Another trick is to get a bit of string or packing strap & wrap it around the belt path. It will give a good approximation of length without removing the belt. Pays to keep a spare of each belt in the 'kit' parts bin ... ;)
Cheers, Bantum ...
