OutBack Ute ...
Ok, I found a few moments to consider some requests for a bigger version of the XV-Ute :
This one is based on the Legacy / Outback platform & should give you a much larger payload + a sportier look to boot ! ...
Notes : I've cheated a little here & there by simple cut & paste, so it's a little unfinished ...
P.S. - I might have a second go at it & tidy up the bits that I've missed ...
Cheers, Bantum ...

I'd love a Baja ute
But Bantum's version is a normal 2 door ute so would be much more practical.
I often think it would have been better for me to cut a Liberty down to a ute rather than trying to fit Liberty bits in a Brumby .......
The drawings look great - especially like the tail gate still has the 'droopy' shape from the Outback - looks hot

If I had heaps of money I'd import a Baja and RHD convert it using a local Outback for parts

Been done in the US - and it looks pretty awesome the way they've done it. Downer was that it was an auto but other than that it was a pretty good conversion!niterida wrote:I'd love a Baja ute

XV or Outback ute - couldn't hurt to have two options on the market right?

The front doors haven't been touched in the one above that Bantum's done. Think about the Holden and ford utes - all the same size doors as the sedans/wagonsniterida wrote:That Gen 2 is 'orrible
The only way to do a decent conversion is to lengthen the front doors - otherwise it just looks odd.
Also think about tooling costs in the factory - one set of front doors equals only one type of tooling required to be produced, thus it would cost less to produce the ute - enough other panels will have to be changed that any way to cut the cost could be the difference between production or not.
But, that's one of the iconic things with the brumby - the longer doors, but these were also used on the coupe so two models were made from the one door type.
My 5 cents on that anyway.
Cheers

The rear window come straight from a tailgate ?
Oh, oh, just going off to picasa to pull something......
All uploaded with ImageShack.us
This guy is a plumber! I think he did all the work himself. Did not get a shot of the old boot lid hinges , they were moved forward for the metal lid.
He used the rear window and trim from the sedan - just as the L Series ute we have seen. That is a working tailgate too. Has Falcon disc rear
Also saw the only P76 wagon and three or four of the eight? Force7's !
