Yep, on it - Doesn't help that google keeps randomising the links, sometimes it takes several goes of coping one bit of 'code' for it to stick ... :/

Working now!

That rust is in a really odd place! I’ve not seen it there before. Bugger about the door too...

Get onto that rust. Bain of my existence

Cheers

Progress is progress, slow and steady ;) Might be time to invest in a little MIG welder and start practicing on some junk panels to repair that rust. As these things get older we might have to move toward repairing rather than replacing certain items...

Yer I'm goin' to have to strip the car to get at it - not looking forward to that. Also got to find somewhere to do it ... :/

On a brighter note, have managed to pick up a good left door :

And gave it a good clean :

And a lick of paint :

On to the next task ...

I should stop reading your thread mate, I’m starting to feel like I’m inadequately looking after my brumby :(

Keep up the good effort!

What’s the location of rust in the roof Bantum? Asking as Sunnie the Brumby is showing signs of rust from behind the panel work just above the seam to the roof in the top of the B pillar on the LHS. Frustrating!!

Can’t wait to have a shed to get it sorted.

Usual places around windscreen,

Left side gutter under T-Top,

& other places yet to be seen - most likely under A pillar sill ...

Ah crap mate, bloody painful! Makes Sunnie the Brumby and Redback look like a bit of a walk in the park in comparison :o

Did you end up finding a space for your shipping containers?

Are you keen to learn how to weld? ;) Going to need it with those rust issues, I'll say it doesn't actually look that bad to me. You can still get away with small patch panels nothing too crazy.

Yep I have got some welding experience, some spare bits to practice on, and a small TIG welder, just got to find time to do it now.

Found a temporary home for my containers, but am still looking for something more permanent.

Got stuck into removing the carby :

labeled all the connecting bits :

And took it out :

Gave it a bit of a bath :

Came out pretty clean except for rust issue, have a kit to go for it, but don't really want to mess with it too much.
Any one know a good carby mechanic in Brisbane ?

The guy behind the camera might be a good candidate - just be methodical in pulling all the parts out and in what order they came out, clean out the crap etc then reassemble with no left over parts.

You might struggle to find someone willing to do the job, and it probably wouldn’t be economical to pay someone’s labour to do it. If you still go ahead looking for someone to do the work you could try hitting up a mower mechanic as they’re still playing with small parts in carbies all the time.

All the best with it. I presume my carb gives me grief but I can’t be bothered doing anything about it - too many other things to deal with first (not brumby related)!

Cheers

It's an afternoons job to put the kit through yourself, I recommend ice-cube trays to place the tiny parts into and a towel on laid out on the work bench. Have rebuilt a couple myself, it looks harder than it is ;) As long as there isn't any majorly worn parts like the pivot points for the butterfly shafts etc. Adjusting that automatic choke is probably going to be the hardest part, you'll need the right manual for the instructions on that one.
