Legacy Gt Loud and proud

Post by Rumbl1n » Mon Aug 13, 2012 8:02 pm

Hey guys for those of you who are interested in sound i am building one ridiculous sound system for my wagon as it has way bigger possibilities than the brumby

Current sound system: sony head unit on stock speakers

Mods i have started: i have two rockford fosgate P2 15" subs (500w rms each) which i am making a custom fibre glass box for in the wheel well with a raised false floor.
I have a U.S. audio (1000w rms) mono block
and also a (200w rms) 4 channel wich i plan on bridging as a two channel to run the speakers i am going to buy (this being temporary till i can get a bigger amp

Future mods:
Two pairs of Herts Hsk-165 xl splits (150w rms each)
Head unit ddx419 DVD player
T800-4ad (600w rms) rockford fosgate 4 channel amp
T2500-1dbCP rockford fosgate mono block amp
and two T2D415 Rockford fosgate 15" (1200w rms) subs

My plan is to enter this car in audio competitions and see how i do wish me luck :)

So this is the start of the enclosure as you can see i have removed everything ive used a strip of mdf to raise the floor that will give me a nice flat surface to screw the lid down an i have used fibre glass resin and paper towel as my first layer (from past experiences fibreglass on the first laer was to hard to fill the gaps

Hey guys here is a couple of pics of the completed box i still need to finish the false floor under the carpet and i have temporarily mounted my amps on the back seats i want to build them into the false floor once i get my new amps.

currently got the stock speakers running off my 4-channel amp was very surprised how good it sounds its only temporary but im quiet happy with it.

i am going to get cargo covers for the subs so you will still be able to load it up as for the spare wheel im still brainstorming lol (im thinking a mount on the right of the boot with a wheel cover

No porting for the 15s? I'd look into it, you'll get abit of extra SPL.

I'm just as addicted to sound as you seem to be, I'm more of a SQ guy tho.

In my gen3 liberty I'm running a fairly basic, but top of the range clarion head unit, hertz hsk165 front stage, focal polyglass components in the back doors, focal polyglass dvc 13in subwoofer which is driven by an alpine pdx 1000wrms monoblock, the speakers are driven by an alpine 4x125wrms v12 digital amp, full monster cable wiring and dynamat everywhere.

If you're looking at the hertz for the front they are a terrific set of speakers but I wouldn't bridge your current amp to them. They're very efficient and don't need a mega amount of juice to run them nicely. Once an amp has been bridged it loses alot of clarity and all round definition which is kinda wasting the hertz speakers.

I have looked into getting it ported i got qouted $500 seemed a bit steep to me an im on the fence about porting i know it will be louder but i love the punch of a sealed box

I have never heard any hertz gear so im taking a bit of a gamble you dont think i will do any damage to them running them that under powered?

What's your amp got atm? I'd say 50rms is minimum. 75-120rms would be optimal
